I was super nervous when i got there, but everyone was so lovely. You go through security and leave personal belongings in a tray, they say on the interview confirmation page that they don't have lockers but they do. I just took in my documents. There is then a long corridor with booths, the first one was B who took my biometrics and told me what to do when i get to the US, we had a lovely conversation and she really calmed me down. I will say, there aren't any seats, its just a long waiting area and you stand in line before getting called to the booth, for some reason I was expecting seats :P The actual interview will take about 5-10mins, my CO was very lovely. You start with an oath that everything you are about to say is true, she then asked me how I met my Fiance, when was the last time i spoke to her, when was the last time i saw her, and if we had any specific wedding plans. The worst part about it was when they type things into the computer and flick through your case in front o... read complete review

Good interview overall, the COVID wait sucked though. It was probably more questions than I expected, they didn't ask for anything in particular, only passport and courier bag, not even appointment confirmation. I thought I'd be one of the only ones there for some reason but there were like 4 of us, each with different times, I was first so definitely nervous, my interview was at 8:30 on a Wednesday so I flew up to Auckland on the 6am flight from Nelson.

They asked similar questions to what people on here have stated, I will say that I don't think it's what they ask but more how they present themselves and how they ask specifically that makes it feel stressful, she asked the questions fast like she was trying to trip me up on something, but all in all, got approved so it's good! relax you'll be okay too =)

Questions asked:
Who is petitioning for you today?
And who is she to you?
What does she do for work?
What's her phone n... read complete review

The whole interview process was quick and easy. We had front-loaded out case with photos and other evidence which might have helped in the consulate officers having little to no questions to ask.

Here is an overview of the consulate experience:

My interview was scheduled for 8:45am. I arrived at the Citigroup building at 3:28am and took the elevator to the 3rd floor.

Once you exit the elevator you are greeted by a security officer who asked me what my purpose for visiting was. I replied by letting him know I was here for a K1 visa interview. He radioed the office and then told me to go through the security line. After going through the line I was told to put any electronic devices in my bad and he placed my bag and documents through an X-ray machine. He then instructed me to go through a metal detector. Afterwards I was given a card with a number and told to give him the card back once my interview was over. He placed my bag in a locker an... read complete review

I wasn't there personally but my fiance said that getting through security at the consulate took longer than the interview itself. Since he arrived early, he was the first one at the window. He said the officer was pretty friendly and asked the basic questions (i.e. what's your fiance's name, what does she do for a living, etc.). Funny story, the officer actually complemented my fiance on how organized all of our documents were (all thanks to VisaJourney!). My fiance was approved for the visa in less than 5 minutes and that was that.

It was a pretty quick process to get in, do the interview, and out. There were a few others in line with me and we went to one window and dropped our passport and Large Foolscap Courier Self Addressed Courier Envelope then we went to the next window where a person asked a few questions about our relationship and our documents. Then they handed my documents to me and said I've been approved and it'll take about 2 weeks to get my passport with the visa back. All together it was about a 45-minute process.
